Charlotte, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team tallied their third conference win on Monday, February 29, 2016, to remain undefeated in South Atlantic Conference play. The Royals would defeat Lincoln Memorial in a 7-2 match that propelled the team to a 6-1 overall record. The Railsplitters would fall to a 1-6 overall record and 0-3 in conference.

"We put in a solid performance today, "said Head Coach Billy Boykin. "I think we are improving as a team each week. This is a hard working bunch and a competitive bunch. We will keep pushing to get better."

With a secure run through doubles, Will Roberson and Jordan Owens captured the team's first point seeing their match to an 8-5 score against Joshua Colthard and Guilherme Rocha. Andor Vas and Per-Erik Soler took the next point for the team topping David Sagarra and Carlos Zunion for the No. 1 court with a score of 8-4. Jules Athalis and Giovanni Setti mirrored the score going 8-4 against Pepe Batalla and Joshua Peress for the No. 2 point.

It was Soler and Athalis who claimed the match for the team. Soler tallied the first point taking a 6-2, 6-1 win on court one against Moritz Hoerner. Athalis followed with the match point for Queens as he went 6-2, 6-1 on his court against Coulthard for the No. 2 spot.

Vas and Setti rounded out the match. Vas battled to take his court in straight sets for a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Pepress. Setti won the eight point set, 8-6, to defeat Batalla on court four.

The team will head on the road next Saturday, March 5^th to play Tusculum in a 1 p.m., match.
