WINGATE, N.C. –The Queens University of Charlotte men's swimming team, ranked second in the first official CSCAA Poll of the season, defeated No. 13 Wingate by a score of 105-100 this evening on the road. The Royals won seven events to pull out the nail biter over the Bulldogs this evening.

Dion Dreesens took the win in tonight's 1000 yard freestyle in 9:26.36, an NCAA B standard. The next top finisher was Ben Evans of Wingate with a time of 9:44.65. Dreesens also grabbed second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle in 1:40.68.
Nick Arakelian was successful winning the 200 yard individual medley and the 500 yard freestyle. He took the win in the individual medley in 1:49.95, beating Sebastian Homberg of Wingate who clocked in at 1:52.20 and posting an NCAA B standard time. Arakelian then tapped the wall in 4:38.73 in the 500 yard freestyle to beat Wingate's Evans who finished second in 4:42.98.
Paul Pijulet also totaled two wins individually this evening. He raced in the 100 yard butterfly, taking first in 48.86, and he won the 100 yard backstroke in 49.35. Both times met the NCAA B standard.
Two of the Royals' wins tonight came as they electrified the pool in the relay races. Queens' Zach, Bunner, Devyn Huges,
Enzo Pazos and
Ben Mayes teamed up to take first in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:33.36. The group edged the competition who clocked in at 1:33.40.
Queens' 400 yard freestyle relay team also secured a first place win on the night as Dreesens, Mayes, Pijulet and Arakelian teamed up to post a time of 3:02.22, an NCAA B standard. Queens also grabbed second in the race as
Parker Cook-Weeks,
Nick Crott, Chris Glafenhein and Brad Hancock tapped the wall in 3:09.79.
The Royals will be back in action on Saturday, November 5 when they welcome Gardner Webb and Richmond to the Levine Aquatic Center for a tri-meet.
