Charlotte, N.C. – In an 8-1 victory over the Catawba Indians (10-12, 1-9 SAC), the No. 28-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team (12-2, 7-5 SAC) triumphed on Thursday, April 09, 2015, confidently taking the conference matchup.

Queens saw the first eight points of the match fall their way, starting with a sweep in the doubles sets. Jaclyn Rock and Claire Hamilton found their win first with a swift 8-0 score against Rachel Rudisill and Sloan Kessler for the No. 3 court. Marta Gonzalez and Caroline Nielsen took the second point of the day securing Court 2 with an 8-3 win over Maddy Henderson and Lauren Sledd. Brining in the last point for the paired matchups and giving the team the sweep, Carlotta Nassi and Melissa Laing took the No. 1 doubles court to an 8-4 score against Liz Renteria and Kristen Rocko.

Hamilton would be the first Royal to return to the court for the ladies and the first to leave, taking hold of a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 6 spot. Gonzalez took the next point for the team to clinch the win with a victory on Court 3. Gonzalez found a 6-2, 6-2 score over Maddy Henderson to see the match went to the Royals.

The day was not done however, as Queens added three more courts to their list. Nassi playing top went 6-2, 6-4 against Renteria for the next point off the board. Nielson would follow-up with a win on her No. 4 singles court, going 8-0 to shutout Kessler. With a win in the No. 2 spot, Laing grabbed the Royals their last point of the day to overcome Rocko with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.

The team heads to Lincoln Memorial for their next matchup. The Royals will face the Railsplitters on Saturday, April 11 for a 1 p.m. start time.
