Hartsville, S.C. – Battling against the Coker College, the No. 36-ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis (10-1, 4-1 SAC) surpassed the Cobras (4-12, 2-5 SAC) on Thursday, April 02, 2015, taking the 7-2 win.
Driving through the match, Queens took the upper hand finding three early doubles points to put them in the lead.
Per-Erik Soler and
Andor Vas played top for the team seeing their court to a 8-4 victory.
Jules Athalis and
Will Roberson would take their win on court 2 going 8-5 against William Marrafao and Dominic Allen. In a narrow contest,
Ole-Jacob Meum and
Zachary Williams persevered to take a 9-8 win in the No. 3 doubles as the duo went 7-5 for the set tiebreak.
Heading into the singles, Athalis and Roberson took hold of the No. 2 and No. 3 singles courts, respectively, giving Queens the go-ahead point for the match. Athalis went 6-4, 6-0 against Simon Bergbom while Roberson topped Mark Watt with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 win.
Vas confidently overcame Felix Schweyer on court 4 taking the 8-2 single set win. Williams found his victory over Zach Grooms for the No. 5 singles going 8-1 in the match.
Queens will host Tusculum this Saturday at Freedom Park for a 2 p.m. match.
