Royals set new men’s and women’s 4x200 meter relay records at Penn Relays

Philadelphia, Pa. – The Queens University of Charlotte track and field teams traveled to compete in the 120th annual Penn Relays hosted by the University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field, bringing home two new school records.
 
The women's 4x200 meter relay team made up of Silja Muehlebach, Mystique Ro, Miranda Wood and Sarai Hayes posted a time of 1:43.69 for 46th place in the prelims. Their time was a new school record in the event, as was the men's. Johannes Riemann, Zachary Lewis, Shomari Ingram and Frank Werner turned in a time of 1:29.51 for 36th place in the prelims.
 
The same group from the men's 4x200 also raced in the 4x100 meter relay, clocking a time of 42.42 for 48th in the prelims.
 
Representing Queens' distance group was Andrea Guerra and Alex Townsend who each competed in the 10,000 meter run. Guerra took 16th place in the women's race in 35:28.54, while Townsend took 29th place in the men's race in 30:51.20.
 
Shelby Kennard finished the women's pole vault tied in sixth place after posting a mark of 11'11.75'' (3.65m).
 
Also competing for the jumpers was Nikia Squire in the long jump. Squire jumped a distance of 14'10.5'' (4.53m) for 28th overall.
