Box Score SALISBURY, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team travelled to Catawba College to take on the Indians. Despite a strong first half the Royals could not get the win, and ultimately lost by the score of 69-54.
The Royals opened up the first half in a double digit hole as the Indians took the lead 19-7 with 12:21. But the resilient Queens side continued to battle and eventually took a one point lead off a three pointer by
Nikia Squire with 5:47 to go.
The Royals continued to build on that their offense's success, and eventually took a 31-24 lead with 4:19 remaining in the first. But, the home team showed that they also were full of fight and rallied back to tie the game, and eventually carry a 34-31 lead into the locker room at half.
The second half started with neither team wanting to give in, but the Indians eventually were to build a 10 point lead with 10 minutes to go. The Royals never retreated, and eventually dropped the home team's lead to single digits with 6:44 to go.
But the Royals were never able to overcome the deficit, and eventually fell by the score of 60-54. Squire led the Royals with 20, with
Shonice Pettaway chipping in with 13.
Queens is now 5-14 overall and 4-11 in conference play. The Royals host Brevard on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
