Queens handles Belmont Abbey at home

Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Royals welcomed old Conference Carolinas foe Belmont Abbey College to Curry Arena this afternoon defeating the Crusaders 96-57 for a new season-high point total. The win extends Queens University of Charlotte's win streak to five games as they head into the holiday break with a 6-5 overall record. The Crusaders now sit at 0-11 on the year.

Once again, all healthy players on Queens' roster saw time on the court today with Sean Morgan scoring 20 points to lead his squad on 8-of-8 shooting. The junior forward also pulled down six rebounds and totaled two assists and two steals. The remainder of the Royals' points were spread pretty evenly throughout the bunch with Trey Ervin and Jacarl Owens netting nine points apiece, while Jedarian Jackons, Darryl White and Jared Hendryx each scored eight points. Rob Lewis dished out five of Queens' 24 assists, while Jackson tallied four and Rankin had three. Lewis and Jackson also pulled down five boards each.

After trailing 5-2 early in the game, the Royals' Rob Lewis was able to tie things up with a three-pointer at 16:15. The two teams then traded buckets for the next eight minutes of play with the Crusaders taking a one point lead, 18-17, on a three-pointer from Nick Hough at 8:20. The Royals would then put on a show scoring 10 straight points to lead 29-18 with 5:28 on the clock. A bucket from behind the three-point line from Queens' Ervin at 1:32 gave the home team its largest lead of the period, 42-26, but a layup from Belmont Abbey's Ray Chen with 29 seconds in the half gave the game a 42-28 score at the break.

By the 12 minute mark in the second half of play, the Royals had doubled the amount of points that Belmont Abbey had scored. They led 62-31 following a fastbreak layin from Ervin, and then went on to pull away by as much as 41 points before the final horn sounded.
