Full ResultsSunday ResultsCharlotte, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte men's swim team grabbed the Wingate Fall Frenzy with a score of 1485 on Sunday, November 23, 2014. The men's team put together eight meet records to accompany nine first place finishes overall.
"I thought both the men's and women's teams did really well," stated Head Coach
Jeff Dugdale. "Wingate did an incredible job of hosting a fast meet this year with very respectable competition all around. I thought that our men's and women's programs rose to the occasion. I look forward to continuing their training through the holidays and into U.S. Nationals in Greensboro."
Starting Sunday off with a one-two finish,
Alex Menke grabbed a meet record for the Royals in the 1650 Yard Freestyle finishing to the wall with a time of 15:24.23.
Nicholas Arakelian immediately followed with a 15:33.69, which also broke the previous top meet time.
Matthew Josa took a meet record performance swim in the 200 Yard Backstroke, powering into the wall with a time of 1:44.72.
Niclas Eriksson out touched the competition in the 200 Yard Breaststroke upsetting Tobias Feigl from Limestone College, who broke the meet record in the prelims. Eriksson not only took the first but took the record away from Feigl with a 1:58.70 finish.
The men's 400 Yard Freestyle Relay took a second place finish for the day as
Ben Taylor,
Austin Sumrall,
John Suther, and
Hayden Kosater touched with a 3:01.25 time.
Queens turns their focus to the U.S. Nationals Qualifiers in Greensboro, N.C., scheduled for December 4th-6th.
