ROCK HILL, S.C. – After completing the 2014 regular season with a 5-4-2 South Atlantic Conference record and 17 points, the Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team has earned the No. 7 seed in the 2014 SAC Women's Soccer Championship, it was determined today as the regular season ended. Lenoir-Rhyne University won its fifth-straight SAC Regular Season Championship after posting a record of 10-1-0 for 30 points.
The Royals will travel to face No. 2 Wingate University, who completed the season with a 9-1-1 league record and 28 points. This season, Queens fell to the Bulldogs by a score of 2-0 at home after defeating them 3-2 in overtime on the road during the 2013 season.
"We are proud to represent Queens Tuesday night as we head to Wingate for the Quarterfinals," said Queens head coach
Katie Talbert. "Wingate is a very good team; however, after the final second outcome in Saturday's game I am confident that our players will use that energy to bring our best, most disciplined team to compete for the win. I am proud of how hard our student-athletes fought this season and am excited for the tournament."
The 2014 South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinals will be played at campus sites on Tuesday, November 4 before moving to Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C. for the semifinals and finals on November 7 and 9. The South Atlantic Conference's Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA women's Soccer Tournament. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
