JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Queens University of Charlotte senior defender
Sejla Podzic has been named to the All-ASUN Second Team, becoming the first player in program history to earn Second Team recognition and just the fourth Royal to receive All-Conference honors since joining the league in 2022.
A team captain, Podzic anchored the Royals back line throughout the 2025 campaign, starting all 19 matches and leading the team with 1,699 minutes played. The senior played 18 complete matches and guided a defensive unit that posted five shutouts and held opponents to one goal or fewer in eight contests. Offensively, she added two goals for four points, influencing matches on both ends of the field.
"The recognition on Second Team for Sejla is well deserved and truly exceptional. It really reflects her quality of play as a center back at the highest level. Her impact as a leader and captain in our space elevated those around her and her individual on-field performance," said head coach
Shannon Neely Noel.
Podzic helped Queens reach the ASUN Tournament for the second time in four years while serving as one of the league's most consistent defensive leaders. She was also named ASUN Defensive
Player of the Week (Sept. 29) after leading the Royals to a pair of shutouts and was also named to the Academic All-ASUN Team, recognizing her success in the classroom as a Business major with a 3.95 GPA.
"I'm so happy and proud that she's getting the external recognition for everything that those internally have seen for the years that she's been with us," said Neely Noel.
Podzic concludes her Queens career with 33 starts in 36 matches, totaling nearly 3,000 minutes since joining the Royals and over 4,000 minutes in her collegiate career.
