Charlotte, NC – With the launch of the new Triathlon program, Queens University of Charlotte is pleased to announce
Sonni Dyer as the inaugural Head Triathlon Coach.
Dyer joins the Royals crew with several years of experience and expertise in the sport. Having coached triathletes over the last 15 years, Dyer comes to Queens with success over multiple levels and disciplines. His enthusiasm and pedigree of success are a winning combination to compete on a national and international level within the triathlon field of competition.
Serving for eight years (2006-2014) as the as the head coach for
Studio7Multisport, Dyer helped equip athletes with the necessary tools to improve times and technique. Prior to Studio7Multisport, Dyer spent three years as the USA Triathlon's Mid-Atlantic Region Athlete Development Coordinator.
In addition to holding a Level 1 USA Triathlon Coaching Certificate since 2003, Dyer has had an AAFA certified personal trainer in exercise science and physiology for 11 years and has been a sports nutrition consultant for 12 years. He was a USA Swim Master's swim coach from 1999-2000 and a USA Cycling Club Coach in 1996 giving him years of experience.
Dyer produced two World Champions for Duathlon-short-course and Long-course & XTerra in addition to 16 national champions during his coaching tenure. He has also guided numerous All-Americans and professional athletes to success at the highest levels.
Personally, he is a former International Triathlon Union (ITU) Draft-Legal Olympic distance professional athlete who finished 11
th at the US Olympic Trials Qualifier in Honduras. Dyer is also a six time All-American for the USA Triathlon organization in both the duathon and triathlon events.
