CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's triathlon teams will be on the hunt for another USAT Collegiate Club National Championship this weekend in Homestead, Fla. A win would give Queens its fourth combined championship in a row, fifth overall. Additionally, the Royals will look to secure their fifth mixed team relay.
Last season, the men's team claimed the top spot while the women raced to a second-place finish.
WHAT TO EXPECT
On Friday, the men's and women's sprint distance drat legal races will take place with the women's race starting and 7:15 a.m. The men's race will follow at 8:45 a.m.
Clare Dasso and
Anna Besenyei will represent Queens in the women's event while
Joe Guthinger and
Rohan Takkar will represent in the men's race.
The Olympic distance non-draft races and the mixed team relay will take place on Saturday. Representing Queens as they defend their mixed team relay championship will be
Anna Besenyei,
Clare Dasso,
Daniel Gossow, and
Ben Capozzi.
This year's championships are powered by CLASH Endurance. They are scheduled to take place at the Homestead-Miami Speedway on March 28-29. The Olympic distance course will feature a two-lap swim in the clear spring fed lake inside Homestead-Miami Speedway. The bike course will take athletes off speedway property for a two-lap bike completely closed to traffic. The two-lap run course will offer great spectator areas before the iconic finish line on pit road and victory circle.
The draft-legal and mixed relay courses will be 100% on the speedway utilizing the sweeping road course giving the crowd several opportunities to cheer on their athletes.
