Coach Sonni Dyer has led the varsity women’s triathlon team to two consecutive Division I Runner-Up finishes ('22 & '23) & 6 consecutive Division II National Championships ('15-'21). 
 
In 2019 and 2022, Coach Dyer led the Royal men to earn their first USAT Collegiate Club National Titles. 
 
His programs have earned the most coveted trophy in all of collegiate club triathlon by winning the USA Triathlon Overall-Combined National Championship titles in 2019, 2022, & 2023 as well.

In 2024, the Royals earned the Overall MACTC team title, with a first-place finish for the women's team under Dyer's leadership.

In 2025, Coach Dyer led the team to earn their fifth consecutive USAT Collegiate Club National Title.
 
Coach Dyer is the only coach in collegiate triathlon history to have won both NCAA Emerging and Club National Titles.
 
Dyer joined Queens University in 2014, having over 25 years of Elite/Olympic athlete-development experience. 
 
Under Dyer's guidance, Queens has produced 2 Olympic triathletes (Knoll & Duchampt, Tokyo-'21), 1 World Cup podium finisher (Zimovjanova-'23), four individual National Champions, 3 collegiate mixed relay gold medals, multiple Long-course triathlon professionals, over 24 All-Americans, numerous scholar All-Americans, and has overseen a team-GPA that has been among the top-3 in the entire Athletic Department 5 times.

Prior to his tenure at Queens, & as the as Head Coach for Studio7Multisport, Dyer has developed over 40 athletes who've won state, National, and world titles in long-course/short-course triathlon, Xterra, cross-country, track-&-field, and all road and off-road cycling disciplines as well.
 
Additionally, Dyer spent three years as USA Triathlon's Mid-Atlantic Region Athlete Development Coordinator.

As a USA Triathlon Level-2 Coach, Dyer was an AAFA certified trainer in exercise science and physiology for 11 years and has been a endurance sports nutrition consultant for 14 years.  He was a USA Swim Master's swim coach from 1998-2001 and a USA Cycling Level-1 Coach with several years of experience.

In 2016, he coached the USA Cycling Jr National road-race and time-trial champion who went on to place 5th at the Jr-Elite UCI World time-trial championships.

Personally, his own atheltic career included 2x winner of the NC Tri Series & experience as a former International Triathlon Union (ITU) Draft-Legal professional triathlete who competed in the 2000-2004 "Road-2-Athens" series of Olympic selection races. Dyer is also a seven time All-American, & 3x National AG Champion for USA Triathlon in both duathlon and triathlon disciplines. 
 
Before multisport, he was a professional cyclist in Europe & U.S. ('91-'93), a former D1 cross-country and track athlete who graduated from Appalachian State University, high-school state cross-country champion and All-State selection in the 1mile/2mile at Pine Forest HS in Fayetteville, NC.
 
Married to Sandy Dyer, they have two sons, Gideon and Jeremiah; both who served in the US Armed Forces, and two daughter in-laws, Julia and Bailey.
