Â
After falling to the Cobras at the buzzer earlier in the season in Curry Arena, Queens headed into tonight's game looking for revenge. They would find themselves trailing the Cobras, 11-4, four minutes into the game, but back-to-back buckets would bring Queens to within three. The two teams traded spurts the rest of the half with the Royals getting to within two points of Coker on a few occasions. At the half, Coker led 33-27.
Â
The second half would prove to be much like the first as the Royals continued to play from behind trying to overcome Coker's narrow lead. A three-pointer from
Micha Cox would be Queens' last chance to overtake the Cobras as it cut their lead to three with 7:41 to play. However, two consecutive lay-ups from the Cobras would extend their lead back out to seven with 5:48 on the clock. They would hold on to their lead to the final horn.
Â
Queens was outscored 32-18 in the paint, and beaten in the battle under the boards 30-25.
Â
Priscilla Fenty led Coker with 19 points, while Tanesha Stenson added 16 points. Jessica Cohen chipped in with 14 points.
