Royals play to 0-0 tie with Bobcats

Box Score BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with Lees-McRae College this evening in a nonconference game late in the season. The Royals now hold a 10-4-3 overall record and are ranked fifth in the SAC, while Lees-McRae closes their regular season at 10-6-1 and ranked first in Conference Carolinas.

Despite a combined total of 22 shots, 11 from each team, having been taken this evening, neither regionally ranked team could put the ball past tonight's keepers for a win. Of Queens' 11, six were on goal with Lees-McRae goalkeeper Alicia Pierson turning each of them away. On the opposite end of the field, Queens' keeper Jessyca Young would record a save on each of the Bobcats' four shots on goal as well.

In the final 1:20 the Royals won three consecutive corner kicks for a chance to pick up the win. Freshman defender Ashley Osiecki served the ball into the box each time finding junior midfielder Diamond Russos on two occassions. Russos would send a header towards the goal that was blocked on one attempt before firing a shot that was headed to the back of the net before Pierson made a save to keep the game knotted at the end of the second overtime period.

Queens will close the regular season at home on Dickson Field this Saturday against No. 23 Lenoir-Rhyne University. Senior Day kick-off is at 2 p.m.
