Queens tennis defeats Coker; women clinch East Division

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte tennis program continued its winning ways as it picked up both men's and women's victories over Coker College today. The men were able to win 5-4, but the story of the day was the women clinching the East Division of Conference Carolinas with a 6-3 score.

Coach Brett Karpman was quick to point out that today was “a very solid win for both teams that required a great effort all around.”

The men were able to come back from a 1-2 deficit following doubles play, and pulled out a win following exciting singles wins by Christiaan Lee-Daigle, Josh Bloch, Andre Bafume and Gustavo Munhoz. With the win the men brought their overall record to 6-4 on the year.

The women were able to pull out three doubles wins as the parings of Christina Rustsheff and Erin Williams, Morgan Roberts and Elena Mileva, and Gillian McLinden and Amanda Poole all won their matches in easy fashion. With a 3-0 lead the women split with Coker during their singles matches as Roberts, Poole, and Williams all picked up wins for the Royals. With the win the women not only clinch their division, but also set their overall record at 9-2.

Both teams return to action Friday as they travel to face North Greenville University.
