Swimming begins the New Year with wins over Limestone and Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, N.C. - Queens University of Charlotte traveled to Lenoir-Rhyne University this afternoon to take part in a tri-meet with the Bears and the Limestone College Saints. Queens won the meet with victories over both Lenoir-Rhyne (197-46) and Limestone (165-79). Also in the combined team scores, Limestone defeated L-R by a 161-82 mark.

On the women's side, Queens prevailed over Lenoir-Rhyne (104-17) and Limestone (84-38) while the Saints defeated the Bears by an 89-32 score. 

In the men's competition, Queens took care of Lenoir-Rhyne (93-29) and Limestone, 81-41. The Saints got the best the Bears as well, 72-50. Alex Menke (Fayetteville, Ga., Whitewater ) turned in a new school record in the 1000-yard freestyle swimming in at 9:37.36.

The Royals will take the pool again on January 14 at the University of South Carolina in a tri-meet with the Gamecocks and Duke University. The meet will begin at 2 p.m.
