Men's tennis soars past Erskine; women fall 6-3

DUE WEST, S.C. -- Queens men's tennis defeated Erskine 6-0 Saturday afternoon, improving to 4-0 (8-2) in the Conference Carolinas. The women's team came up short, falling 6-3 to the Flying Fleet for their first in-conference loss of the season.

The women's team got out to a slow start, dropping all three doubles matches to fall into a 0-3 hole to begin the day. The Royals looked to get back into the match, picking up their first point of day with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win for Elena Mileva (Sofia, Bulgaria, First Private English Language School) over Tessa Rheault in the first flight. The rally ended there as Christina Rustscheff (Toronto, Canada, Bayview Glen) and Erin Williams (Arden, N.C., T.C. Roberson) fell in the second and third flights to secure the victory for the Flying Fleet. Though the match was out of reach, the Royals contined to battle – picking up wins in the four and five flights from Morgan Roberts (Fort Pierce, Fla., Treasure Coast) and Amanda Poole (Douglasville, Ga., South Paulding).

The Royals are off for two weeks before traveling to Misenheimer, N.C. for their match with Pfeiffer (5-6, 2-2 CC)

Full results for the men's match will be posted when they become available.
