Royals tennis dominates Coker

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queen tennis had a near flawless afternoon Saturday, as the men's team swept Coker 9-0 while the women cruised to an 8-1 win at Oven's Athletic Center.

The women's team followed up their 9-0 dismantling of Converse on Friday night with another phenomenal performance. The Royals jumped out to another 3-0 start after dropping just seven combined games in doubles action.

In singles action, Christina Rustscheff (Toronto, Canada, Bayview Glen) made short work of Stephanie Medley, winning 6-0, 6-1, while Amanda Poole (Douglasville, Ga., South Paulding) and Gillian Mclinden (Marrietta,Georgia, Marietta) dropped just three games combined in the fifth and six flights.
 
The men's team returned to the court for the first time since breezing by Mount Olive one week prior on Homecoming. The well-rested Royals took no time in dismantling the Cobras, picking up wins in doubles competition by the scores of 8-2, 8-1, and 8-1 from top to bottom.

Christiaan Lee-Daigle (Tecumseh, Ontario, L'Essor Secondary School) held serve in the first flight with a 6-0, 6-2 win over  Manel Estruga in the first flight, while David Hannon (Gastonia, N.C., Episcopal Alexandria), Joshua Bloch (Johannesburg, South Africa, King David), and Christopher Kennedy (Colorado Springs, Co., TCA) went into tie breakers to pick up their respective wins.  Raahil Dhruva (London, England, Parmiter's) topped Juan Vallejo-Gonzalez 6-0, 6-2 in the fourth flight, while Alex McKinzie (Austin, Tex., Lake Travis) got by Evan Schreiner in the fifth flight without dropping a game.

Both programs return to the court tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Belmont Abbey.
