Swimming defeats Pfeiffer and Brenau

The men competed against Pfeiffer, while the women swam against Pfeiffer and Brenau.

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte swept all dual meet results on Friday night at Merner Pool with host Pfeiffer University and visiting Brenau University. Queens defeated the Pfeiffer men 76-35 while the ladies defeated Pfeiffer 81-30 and Brenau 76-34. Brenau registered a team victory over the Lady Falcons 58-53 in the 22-event meet.

The women and men swimmers dominated this evening as each won all but one event in the meet.

Lillian Gordy (Winston-Salem. N.C., Reagan) and Tessa Pena (Apex, N.C., Middle Creek) led on the women's side winning three events apiece. Gordy clocked in at 1:58.05 in the 200-yard free and at 5:17.56 in the 500-yard free. Pena turned in a time of 18:00.47 in the mile and a time of 2:12.07 in the 200-yard IM. The duo teamed up with Madeleine Wallmon (Danderyd, Stockholm, Sweden, Viktor Ryderg Gymnasium) and Taylor Davis (Dover, Del., Center Grove) for their third event winning the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.82.

On the men's side Kyle House (Lawrenceburg, Ind., East Central ) swam in at 21.91 for first place in the 50-yard freestyle. Alex Menke (Fayetteville, Ga., Whitewater ) completed the mile nearly 30-second ahead of the next finisher with a time of 17:10.74.

Pena managed to set a new Queens record this evening with her time in the mile.

The Royals will turn right around tomorrow to take on Division I opponent Gardner Webb University at 10 am.
