WILSON, NC — Barton and visiting Queens University of Charlotte played to a 0-0 deadlock through two overtimes Saturday afternoon in the Conference Carolinas finale for both schools.

The loss left Barton out of the eight-team league tourney at 5-11-1 overall and 2-7-1 in league play. Queens left with a 5-7-2 overall mark and 2-6-2 league mark.

Each team registered six shots on goal. Freshman defender Luke Costanza made the play of the game for the Bulldogs, who scrapped for the final 58 minutes of the 110-minute match a man down. Late in regulation, the ball bounded free in front of the goal and Queens had a point-blank shot, but Costanza lunged toward the net and cleared the ball away, which drew a big bear hug from sophomore Barton goalie Brian Riesenberg (five saves).

Junior Queens keeper Chris Raines (Aurora, Colo., Cherokee Trail)came up with a couple of huge saves and finished with six overall. The physical match featured 51 fouls (28 for Barton), five yellow cards and a red card.

Queens will finish its season this Wednesday at Wingate University.
