CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte Men's Soccer finished in a highly competitive 2-2 draw with Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday (Sept. 26) at the Queens Sports Complex in Atlantic Sun action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Florida Gulf Coast came out and controlled the pace of play in the first half by accounting for nearly 60% of the possession. The Eagles earned 10 corner kicks to just one for Queens.
Matthew Bademian was tested early and often throughout the night, totaling six saves with four of them coming in the first half.
In the 17
th minute, Aron Martinez broke loose down the sidelines and connected with Flavio D'Angelo in the middle of the field who found the back of the net. The Eagles carried that 1-0 advantage into halftime.
Coming out of halftime,
Oliver Carias' squad settled into the match and found their rhythm. The Royals were able to create more opportunities in the attacking third, outshooting the Royals 8-6.
Kyriakos Christodoulou dribbled from the right side of the field and passed to
Vitor Baptistelli, who fired a shot to the lower left corner of the net to draw the match even at 1-1 at the 57
th minute.
Just moments later in the 60
th minute,
Iker Erazo delivered an excellent through ball to
Luis Vera Mayorca on the counterattack, as the ASUN's leading goal scorer found the back of the net for the sixth time this season.
Queens quickly went from on the attack trailing to now holding the lead. The Royals back line did a great job of limiting FGCU's chances compared to the first half, decreasing their corner kicks from 10 to three. However, in the 85
th minute Lucas Spencer fired a shot that was saved by Bademian, but off the deflection Michael Ndiweni was at the right place at the right time to tie the match at 2-2. This proved to be the last scoring chance for both sides.
