THE SHORT STORY
Queens University of Charlotte bounced back with a 7-2 road win over the University of West Georgia this afternoon in Atlantic Sun action. The Royals looked for a strong pitching performance to even the series at one, and they got it from starting pitcher Joey Ruller, who posted a season-high in strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Queens got on the board in the top of the second when it pushed two runs across. It started when Lenox Lively doubled to lead off and then scored on Bradley Brown's RBI double to left, putting the Royals up 1-0. He then took third when Jacob Grimes reached first on a fielder's choice bunt to the pitcher.  Brown later scored to push the lead to 2-0 on a groundball double play before the inning ended.
- With two outs and bases loaded in the top of the third, Bradley Brown was hit by a pitch to drive in the Royals' third run of the game.
- Queens opened the top of the fourth up with three straight singles from Matthew Suppa, Dylan Schaefer, and Hunter Huneycutt. With bases loaded, West Georgia got two back-to-back outs, but a two-run single through the right side by Karter Wong drove in Suppa and Schaefer to make it 5-0.  Huneycutt scored when an error by the first baseman allowed Lively to reach and give the Royals a 6-0 lead before the inning ended.
- West Georgia in the bottom of the sixth plated a pair of runs to cut the lead to 6-2.
- The Royals got one of the two runs back in the top of the ninth when Thomas Mathay doubled and then tagged up on a fly out to move to third. He later scored off Brown's sacrifice fly to right field to make it 7-2.
- The Queens bullpen in the ninth set down the Wolves in order to secure the win.

BY THE NUMBERS
- The win ends a five game losing streak.
- Ruller scattered six hits and two runs over seven innings, while striking out a season-high 10 to earn the win (3-8). Breaking his previous season-high of nine strikeouts, which he set twice this season, with the last time being on April 11 against Stetson.
- Reliever Sebastian Neave threw two innings and struck out one. He did not let a single runner reach base.
- Huneycutt paced the team at the plate in hits, going 2-for-5 while scoring a pair of runs.
- Brown led the team in RBIs with three. He was 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and a run scored.
