Baseball Falls in Final Game of Series to West Georgia

THE SHORT STORY
Queens University of Charlotte dropped the rubber game of the series in a 14-4 run-rule loss to the University of West Georgia this afternoon in Atlantic Sun competition. The Royals went 1-2 in the series, with the only win coming on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- West Georgia wasted no time getting on the board as it pushed four runs across in the first and two in the second to take a 6-0 lead.
-The Royals cut the lead to four when they plated a pair of runs in the top of the third. With two outs, Hunter Huneycutt singled to right and later came around to score when Grayson Childers belted a two-run home run to left field to make it 6-2 before the inning ended.
-The Wolves got one of the two runs back in the bottom of the third and then added another four runs in the fifth to take a 11-2 lead.
- Childers opened the top of the sixth with a single up the middle. Anibal Rivera followed up with a two-run home run to right field, scoring Childers to make it 11-4. The Royals would put two more runners on from a pair of walks, but a strikeout ended the threat.
- West Georgia got both runs back in its half of the sixth and then added another in the bottom of the seventh to secure the run-rule victory.

BY THE NUMBERS
- Queens' starting pitcher Jake Young allowed four runs on two hits in an inning of work to take the loss and fall to 2-3 on the season.
- Childers led the team at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBIs, a home run, and a double. His home run was his eighth of the season.
- Rivera finished the day with a home run (fifth of the season), a pair of RBIs, and a run scored while going 1-for-3.
- Huneycutt and Thomas Mathay each tallied a hit, while Huneycutt recorded a run scored.
