THE SHORT STORY
Both teams combined for 23 runs and 26 hits. Still, it was the University of West Georgia pulling out a 14-9 win over Queens University of Charlotte tonight at Cole Field in Carrollton, Georgia. Both teams found themselves tied after the first, but the Wolves took a 13-1 lead into the seventh. The Royals cut into the lead when they pushed six runs across in the sixth, but it was too much to overcome.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-
Anibal Rivera put Queens up early in the first when he hit his fourth home run of the season to make it 1-0. The Wolves answered back in the bottom half when they hit a game-tying home run.
- West Georgia added four runs in the third, six in the fifth, and two in the sixth to take a 13-1 lead.
- Queens in the seventh pushed six runs across on four hits, and it started when
Matthew Suppa singled up the middle and later moved to second when
Dylan Schaefer walked. The Royals loaded the bases when
Hunter Huneycutt singled to right field.
Grayson Childers' RBI walk scored Suppa to make it 13-2. Rivera followed that up with a walk of his own that scored Schaefer and cut the lead to 13-3. Following an infield fly to second, Huneycutt scored off
Karter Wong's sacrifice fly. Now with two outs,
Mitchell Basterrechea singled to center to score Childers and second Rivera to second. Both runners were able to advance 90 feet off a wild pitch.
Jacob Grimes' two-run single up the middle scored both runners to cut the lead to 13-7 before the inning ended.
- West Georgia added a run in its half of the seventh to push the lead to 14-7, but in the eighth, Queens plated a pair of runs when Rivera tripled to cut the lead to 14-9.
- The Wolves in the ninth allowed a one-out walk before getting back-to-back outs to end the game.
