The Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball team battled back to even the match after two sets, but Purdue Fort Wayne used a late push in the fourth to secure a 3-1 victory on Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Purdue Fort Wayne opened the match with a strong offensive showing, hitting .625 in the first set to take an early 1-0 lead. Queens responded in the second, using an efficient .417 hitting percentage and balanced attack to claim a 25-22 set win and even the match.
The Mastodons regained control in the third set, pulling away late behind consistent offense to take a 2-1 advantage. In the fourth, Queens fought point-for-point in a tightly contested frame that featured multiple ties down the stretch. The Royals pushed the set to extra points but couldn't close it out as Purdue Fort Wayne edged out a 26-24 win to clinch the match.
