Royals Sign Elite Scorer Caleb Jones

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte head men's basketball coach Grant Leonard is thrilled to announce the signing of Caleb Jones to the 2026 recruiting class on Monday afternoon. Jones, a 6-4 guard from Savannah, Georgia, comes to the Queen City following a sensational run with the YNG Dreamerz in the Overtime Elite league.

"I'm extremely excited to be joining Queens University and becoming a part of this program," said Jones. "From the coaching staff to the culture, everything stood out to me as the right fit. I'm ready to get to work, compete at a high level, and contribute however I can to help the team succeed. I can't wait to get on campus and start this next chapter."

This past season with the YNG Dreamerz, Jones averaged 27.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.7 steals per game as he led the Dreamerz to the OTE Semifinals. Jones poured in 25+ points in 10 outings on the season, including an OTE single-game scoring record 59 points on 69 percent shooting from the field against City Reapers. A 2025-26 All-OTE standout, the athletic guard averaged the fifth-most points per game in OTE history.

Patrick O'Brien, the Director of Operations at Phenom Hoops, had this to say about Jones in late January.

"Jones may be the sneakiest guard in the state of North Carolina that D1 programs should be looking at more. Highly underrated, Jones has simply proven and shown the ability to be a true scoring factor on the court. An effective and efficient guard, Jones can be a big threat from the perimeter with his ability to knock down shots as well as make plays off the bounce. He plays hard and makes those extra effort plays that college coaches love."

Before joining Moravian Prep/YNG Dreamerz, Jones attended Benedictine Military School in Savannah, Georgia. Jones capped off his high school career with over 2,000 points scored and was named 4A First Team All-State, Savannah Morning News' 2025 All-Greater Savannah First Team, and Second Team All-Georgia. The Region 1-4A Player of the Year averaged 31.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. In the regional semifinals, Jones poured in 49 points to lead his squad to the championship, where he followed it up with 37 points.

"Caleb is a fantastic player, an electric scorer, and an elite playmaker," said head coach Grant Leonard. "He will have a huge impact with us from day one. We couldn't be more excited about him joining our family."

Jones was a highly sought-after talent in recent months, holding offers from Queens, Kennesaw State, Morehead State, Southern Miss, and FIU. High major programs such as Ole Miss, Wake Forest, Stanford, and others were also showing interest.

Jones will join a Royals program that is coming off its first ASUN Tournament Championship and first appearance in the 2026 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. The historic season saw the Royals post a 21-14 record, marking the second straight season with at least 20 wins. Queens clinched the third seed in the ASUN Tournament before defeating top-seeded Central Arkansas in overtime in the title game.
