THE SHORT STORY
Despite grabbing a quick 4-0 lead in game one of an afternoon doubleheader, the Queens University of Charlotte baseball team fell 13-5 to the nationally ranked Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia used a six-run third inning and a five-run seventh inning to grab game two of the weekend series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Queens jumped on Georgia in the top of the second inning with four runs on five hits. With runners on first and second and one out,
Hunter Huneycutt roped a 2-0 pitch down the right field line for an RBI double. Just two pitches later,
Michael Brunetti sent an RBI single up the middle.
Dylan Schaefer followed it up with a sacrifice bunt, which brought home Huneycutt and
Thomas Mathay followed in line with an RBI single through the right side to cap off a four-run frame for the visitors.
-Georgia broke through in the bottom of the third inning with six runs on four hits. The scoring was capped off when Kolby Branch belted a 3-1 pitch over the center field wall for a grand slam and gave the Bulldogs a 6-4 lead.
-After retiring the Royals on 15 pitches over the next two innings, Georgia added onto their lead in the bottom of the fifth when Henry Allen sent a first-pitch blast over the center field wall.
-Queens got that run back in the top of the sixth as a fielder's choice from
Hunter Huneycutt plated
Anibal Rivera to cut the deficit back down to 7-5. However, the Bulldogs answered right back in the bottom half of the inning on a sacrifice fly from Ryan Wynn.
-For the third straight inning, Georgia cracked the scoring column, plating five runs on four hits, including three home runs to take a commanding 13-5 lead.
BY THE NUMBERS

Thomas Mathay extended his hitting streak to seven straight games with a 2-for-4 performance, including an RBI. The two-hit game was Mathay's second multi-hit game of the season.

Mitchell Basterrechea logged his second multi-hit game of the season with a 2-for-4 afternoon.

Grayson Childers,
Anibal Rivera,
Karter Wong,
Hunter Huneycutt, and
Michael Brunetti rounded out the offense with a hit. Rivera and Huneycutt roped a pair of doubles.
-Four Bulldogs turned in multi-hit efforts as Kolby Branch led the way with a 2-for-3 performance, including two home runs and five RBI.

THE SHORT STORY
In game two of a Saturday doubleheader, the nationally ranked Georgia Bulldogs blasted five home runs and limited the visiting Royals to one hit as they swept the afternoon doubleheader with an 11-0 win in game two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Georgia jumped on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Daniel Jackson belted a 2-0 pitch over the center field fence. The Bulldogs would add on two more in the ensuing inning when Daniel Hudson raced around the bases for an inside-the-park home run to bring in a pair of runs.
-The Bulldogs manufactured another run in the bottom of the fourth inning with an RBI groundout. In the fifth inning, Daniel Hudson led off the inning with a single before Tre Phelps belted a two-run shot to left center to extend the Georgia lead to 6-0.
-Queens turned to their bullpen in the bottom of the sixth and Jake Arcamone greeted the new arm with a one-out home run to right center.
-In the bottom of the seventh, Georgia plated four runs on three hits. Kolby Branch capped off the scoring with a three-run homer to left center to seal the 11-0 victory.

Thomas Mathay got the Royals lone hit of the afternoon which extended his hitting streak to eight straight games.
-The Bulldogs pitching staff held the Royals bats in check with 11 strikeouts.
-Dylan Vigue improved to 3-1 on the season with 7.0 scoreless innings and 11 strikeouts.
