THE SHORT STORY
The Queens University of Charlotte softball team rallied late to earn a 10-6 victory over West Georgia on Sunday afternoon. In a game that featured multiple lead changes, the Royals used a four-run seventh inning capped by a Lindsay Henson grand slam to secure the comeback win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
West Georgia struck first with a two-run home run in the opening inning, but Queens quickly responded. Sage Farmer led off with a double and later scored on a wild pitch before Madison Cantoni delivered an RBI single to tie the game at 2-2.

Queens took its first lead in the second inning when Dani Stewart reached and came around to score on a Lauren Byrd RBI single, making it 3-2. The Wolves answered in the third, using a combination of timely hitting and a Queens error to plate three runs and take a 5-3 lead.

The Royals responded again in the fourth inning with a three-run frame. Byrd drove in a run with a double before Olivia Thornton scored on a defensive miscue. Lindsay Henson followed with an RBI single—her run unearned—to give Queens a 6-5 advantage.

West Georgia evened the score in the fifth inning at 6-6, taking advantage of another Royals error to push across an unearned run.

After a scoreless sixth inning, Queens delivered the decisive blow in the seventh. Farmer, Byrd, and Thornton all singled to load the bases before Henson launched a grand slam to left-center field, sealing the 10-6 victory.
