GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team opened its season at 1-0 after defeating Le Moyne College, 13-3, in a neutral site game this afternoon. It's the first season-opening win for the Royals since Queens reclassified to NCAA Division I.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0 with 9:22 left, Queens scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at 2-2 heading into the second quarter. The Royals then scored five unanswered goals in the period to take a 7-2 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half of action, Queens added six more points to the board while allowing the Dolphins to score just once more before the final horn sounded.
KEY STATS & NOTES
- Junior midfielder Ethan Scaffidi and junior attacker Carter Petersen scored four goals each in the win. Petersen also tallied four assists.
- Parker Beiland and Caden Cinotti each scored their first collegiate goals, while Will McKay scored his first goal as a Royal.
- Freshman goalkeeper Boston Badraun collected his first collegiate win, totaling 10 saves.
- Lucas Winger totaled 12 saves for the Dolphins.
- Queens went on a 12-0 scoring run that spanned across all four periods of the game.
- The Royals outshot Le Moyne 33-26, putting 25 shots on goal.
- Grant Isika won nine faceoffs for the Royals.
- Queens totaled 26 ground balls, while Le Moyne totaled 19.
- Today marked the first-ever game between Queens and Le Moyne.
