CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte alum Mystique Ro is gearing up to compete at The Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 after officially being named to Team USA's skeleton team at the end of the 2025-2026 World Cup season. Ro is the eighth Royal athlete to suit up and compete in the Olympic or Paralympic Games, and the first to compete in the Winter Olympic Games.
Ro completed her collegiate track & field career in 2016 and was invited to USA bobsled and skeleton rookie camp soon after. There she was pushed to try skeleton and the rest is history. Ro made her FIL World Cup debut in 2023, and she became the first American athlete to win a skeleton race on the world cup circuit in eight years the following year. At the 2025 FIL World Championships, she won silver to become the first American to win a world medal in the sport in 12 years. She also won gold in the mixed team skeleton event.
In addition to making her debut in The Winter Olympics, Ro makes history as the first Black Queens athlete to compete at the Games. She also follows in the footsteps of teammate Kelly Curtis who was Team USA Skeleton's first Black Olympian in 2022.
