Fourth Quarter Push by Petersen Not Enough as Queens Falls to Mountaineers

EMMITSBURG, Md. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team (1-2) fell 13-10 at Mount St. Mary's (1-1) this afternoon in their rescheduled game with the Mountaineers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing the Mountaineers 11-6 in the fourth, Queens pulled within two, 11-8, on back-to-back goals from Carter Petersen. A goal from Mount followed to increase the margin back to three, but Petersen found the back of the cage with a man-up goal at 9:16 to make it a two-point game again. Chris Grimaldi of the Mountaineers scored the final goal of the day for his team with 7:55 on the clock, but the Royals offense went cold as they were only able to score once more before the final horn sounded.

Despite three goals from Ethan Scaffidi in the first quarter, powering a 5-4 lead in the opening quarter of action, Queens found itself behind 7-5 at the half after Mount scored three unanswered goals in the second quarter. The Mountaineers then outscored the Royals 2-1 in the third quarter.
