Queens battled throughout Saturday afternoon's contest but fell 77–64 to West Georgia in The Coliseum. The Wolves used a strong second quarter to create separation, while the Royals continued to fight behind a productive second half from
Ana Barreto and a strong all-around performance from
Dayuna Colvin, who combined for 39 points.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Ana Barreto led Queens with 21 points, connecting on six three-pointers and scoring 14 of her points after halftime.
- Dayuna Colvin finished with 18 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals while playing all 40 minutes.
- Jermany Mapp added 10 points and two assists.
- Queens knocked down ten three-pointers, their highest total in ASUN play this season.
NOTABLE MOMENTS
- The opening quarter remained tight as Queens trailed just 15–14 after the first ten minutes.
- West Georgia broke the game open in the second quarter, using a 13–2 run midway through the period to push its lead to double digits and take a 42–27 advantage into halftime.
- The Royals responded out of the break with improved offensive rhythm, highlighted by back-to-back baskets from Dayuna Colvin and a three from Ana Barreto early in the third quarter.
- Barreto sparked Queens late in the fourth quarter, drilling four triples in the final period as the Royals trimmed the deficit to 13 with under three minutes remaining.
- Despite the push, West Georgia answered with timely baskets down the stretch to secure the win.
