CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team (1-7) collected its first win of the season this afternoon, defeating Coker University (1-7) by a score of 7-0.
INSIDE THE MATCH
Liv Rainwater scored a goal in the seventh minute of today's game to give the Royals an early lead over Coker, and Queens never looked back. A goal soon followed from the stick of
Maddie Just to put the home team in front 2-0 heading into the second quarter.
Queens then ran away with the game in the second period, finding the back of the cage three times to increase the lead to 5-0 by the halftime break.
Sydney Smith and
Sarah Hondru scored goals in the second half to give the game its final score.

- Jarmilla Richter led Queens with two goals.
- Liv Rainwater and Sarah Hondru each recorded their first collegiate career goals and assists in today's win. Lilly Waters tallied her first collegiate career assist.
- Madison Destefano tallied today's win in goal. Sabrina Balent recorded her first collegiate career save after playing 22:20 in the cage. Sarah Trask also saw time in the cage this afternoon.
- Queens outshot Coker, 30-4, putting 25 shots on goal.

UP NEXT
Queens will be on the road for its next three games before returning home to face Richmond on Oct. 12. They will travel to Athens, Ohio, next weekend to take on Bellarmine and Ohio.
