COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team (4-3) saw its winning streak come to an end on Tuesday night as the Royals fell at South Carolina (6-3-1) by a final score of 1-0. The setback snapped a Division 1 best four-game winning streak and a four-game clean sheet streak.

TURNING POINT
Following 75 minutes of scoreless action, the Gamecocks broke through as Alejandro Velazquez-Lopez diced his way through the Royals backline before striking a left footer into the bottom right corner of the net. Queens would generate multiple attacking opportunities with 25 minutes to play, but the South Carolina backline held strong and turned in their first shutout of the season.
KEY STATS & NOTES
- The South Carolina attack, which ranks 30th in the country in scoring offense, outshot the Royals 14-7. However, the Royals strong backline limited the Gamecocks to four shots on goal.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Matheus Rhormens got his 19th career start in goal and recorded three saves.
- Cole Pumpian, Michel Feldman, and Valter Salavuo led the Royals attack with multi-shot performances. Freshman Michael Tzimoulis made his fifth appearance and rounded out the Royals attack with a shot.
- Five Royals, including Otto Gustafsson, Vitor Baptistelli, Anthony Brown, Rodrigo Canovas, and Matheus Rhormens turned in a complete game.
