JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Atlantic Sun Conference has announced its weekly honors for week five of the regular season, and Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer standouts
Cole Pumpian and
Matheus Rhormens earned weekly nods. The recognition comes for the second straight week after
Otto Gustafsson earned Defensive Player of the Week nods last week.
In their lone match of the week, Pumpian and Rhormens sparked the Royals to a pivotal 1-0 clean sheet over No. 14 Clemson. Pumpian netted the game-winner in the 16
th minute for his first goal of the season, and second of his career, while also helping Rhormens and the backline to their fourth straight clean sheet.
"Cole has been equally impactful on both sides of the ball," said Queens head coach
Oliver Carias. "Last Tuesday, Cole anchored our defense against one of the most dangerous offenses in the nation, while also contributing in the attack to help us secure a statement win over a top 15 team in the country."
In goal, Rhormens held a top 10 scoring offense scoreless, a mark that hasn't been done by a Tigers opponent since 2023. Despite the Tigers getting 18 shots off, the Queens backline limited the Tigers to three on goal, which Rhormens smothered. In the 72
nd minute, Clemson drew a set piece just outside the box and ripped a strike to the top left corner of the frame, which a diving Rhormens punched away.
"Matheus has been a cornerstone in our recent four-game winning streak, leading us to four consecutive clean sheets. His leadership on and off the field has driven our team to deliver disciplined and solid performances."

th in the country in shutout percentage, and tied for the league lead with four shutouts.
