RALEIGH, N.C. – Despite holding No. 14 N.C. State (1-0) scoreless over the remaining 52 minutes of action, the Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer (0-1) team was unable to overcome an early first-half deficit, falling to the nationally-ranked Wolfpack, 2-0 on Thursday night.

TURNING POINT
After both offenses spent the first 20 minutes of action feeling out the new year, the Wolfpack struck first in the 21
st minute when ACC Preseason Watch List recipient Donavan Phillip dribbled through the Queens backline before ripping a strike from the right side of the box into the left side of the net. The Wolfpack added on in the 37
th minute when Isaac Heffess sent a high ball into the box from midfield. With a pair of Queens defenders in position, Nikola Markovic settled the pass before touching it into the corner of the net.

- N.C. State generated multiple scoring opportunities with 23 shots, and 11 on target.
- The Wolfpack earned nine corner opportunities while limiting the Royals to one corner chance.
- Despite surrendering a pair of goals, sophomore Matheus Rhormens shined in goal, bringing in nine saves, including multiple diving efforts.
- Five Royals turned in complete games, including Otto Gustafsson, Leontios Zacharia, Nathan Tozzi, Valter Salavuo, and Rodrigo Canovas.
