CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte Department of Athletics is proud to announce their annual summer awards series, celebrating the outstanding accomplishments of its student-athletes during the 2024-25 season.
Award winners will be revealed every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the summer across the department's official social media platforms. The series continues with the Pamela Davies Scholar Athletes of the Year.
Pamela Davies Scholar-Athletes of the Year
Presented by the Department of Athletics to a student-athlete who has attained a strong academic record and has excelled in their sport. The award is named after former University president Pamela Davies who served the institution for 17 years (2002-2019), distinguishing herself through her commitment to providing innovative and high-quality education and building community partnerships that enhance the educational experience of Queens students.
Men's Winner – Brian Camacho, Men's Volleyball
Brian Camacho, a native of Oviedo, Fla., wrapped up an impressive four-year career at Queens, excelling both on the court and in the classroom. Boasting a remarkable 3.94 cumulative GPA, Camacho was recognized for his academic excellence with a spot on the 2024 Academic All-MIVA Team. On the court, the senior setter had his most productive season to date, recording 134 assists over 85 sets. He also notched a career-high 46 assists in a standout performance against Barton on January 19.
Women's Winner – Sabrina Houlihan, Women's Rugby
Sabrina Houlihan, from Northville, Mich., completed a distinguished four-year career with Queens women's rugby, combining academic excellence with athletic success. Graduating with an impressive 3.96 GPA, Houlihan was named to the NIRA All-Academic Team multiple times throughout her career. On the field, she played a key role in leading the Royals to dominant wins over Navy (40–7), Warren Wilson (66–0), Mount St. Mary's (79–7), and Princeton (48–17).
