The Short Story:
The Queens University of Charlotte baseball team dropped game two of a three-game homestand against West Georgia on Friday night by a final score of 9-3. The visiting Wolves sprayed 15 hits on the night and used a four-run fifth inning to even the series. Despite the loss, Queens rattled 10 hits on the night marking the 11
th game this season, and third straight the Royals have knocked double digit hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-West Georgia jumped on the board early as Cooper Prince belted the second pitch of the game over the right field fence for the early 1-0 lead.
-The Wolves extended their lead in the top of the fifth inning with four runs on four hits. After leading off the inning with a single through the left side, Jacob Bowman swiped second to get in scoring position. Cannon Stafford worked a walk and Cooper Prince delivered an RBI single to right center to plate a run. A passed ball moved both Wolves into scoring position and Noah Darden capitalized with an RBI ground out to the shortstop. Queens intentionally walked Carter Dierdorf, putting runners on the corners and Blake Bradford and Carson Mynatt ripped back-to-back RBI singles to increase the lead to 5-0.
-Queens chipped away at the deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning putting together a two-out rally.

Tyler Peters drove an RBI single through the right side to bring home the Royals first run of the game.
-West Georgia tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the top of the eighth inning as Jacob Bowman and Cannon Stafford blasted back-to-back solo home runs to extend the Wolves lead to 7-1.
-The Royals answered back in the bottom of the eighth with two runs on three hits.
Jake Barbour led off the inning with a four-pitch walk before
Will Budnick roped a single to put runners on the corners.
Nick Alderfer stepped in and delivered an RBI single bring home Barbour. With runners on the corners and one out,
Tyler Peters laced an RBI single through the right side to cut the deficit to 7-3 heading into the ninth.
-In the top of the ninth inning, West Georgia added a pair on a two-run blast from Luke Johnson to extend their lead to 9-3.
BY THE NUMBERS
-Senior
Tyler Peters sparked the Royals offense with a 3-for-4 night at the plate, including two RBI. The multi-hit game was the veterans fourth of the season.
-Charlotte native
Nick Alderfer recorded his 10
th multi-hit game of the year with a 3-for-4 night at the plate, including an RBI and a run scored.
-
Jake Barbour,
Will Budnick, and
Anibal Rivera rounded out the offense with a hit on the night. Barbour laced his eighth double of the season.
-Freshman
Ryan Brown made his seventh start of the season and tossed 4.1 innings, allowing five runs on nine hits. The Ashland, Kentucky native also turned in a 1-for-5 night at the plate, extending his hitting streak to five straight games to match his season-long.
-Will Dean got the start for West Georgia and tossed 5.2 innings allowing one run on seven hits while striking out four Royals.

Queens will wrap up their 2025 season tomorrow, May 17
th against West Georgia at The Stick. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus. Prior to the game, Queens will honor their 2025 senior class beginning at 12:30 p.m. on the field.
