Queens Silences Kennesaw State with Impressive Second Half Performance

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team snapped a three-game losing skid with a key 17-7 victory over Kennesaw State at Dickson Field on Saturday afternoon. The Royals outscored the visiting Owls 8-1 over the final 30 minutes to improve to 1-1 on the year in ASUN play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Queens jumped on the visiting Owls 3-0 within five minutes of action as Elise Grissett, Isabella Swanson, and Kayleen Favreau found the back of the net. Both offenses would exchange a pair of goals to close out the first quarter as Lily Greenwell beat the buzzer, netting her 15th goal of the season as time expired.

Kennesaw State began to find their rhythm in the second quarter netting the first two goals of the new period. Queens answered right back when Savannah Donahue went coast-to-coast and netted her first career goal with 4:42 remaining. Just a minute later, Lily Greenwell ripped home a free-position shot for her 16th goal of the season to extend the Royals lead to 8-4. The Owls would counter again with back-to-back goals to force a Queens timeout, but the Royals responded as Michela Paterson skipped in her ninth goal of the season with nine seconds until intermission.

Coming out of the break, Queens took control, outscoring the Owls 3-0 in the third quarter. Jordan Tandler netted her first goal of the day with 13 minutes remaining in the quarter before finding the back of the net a minute later. The Royals defense held the Owls off the board, and Elise Grissett netted home her 27th goal of the season with five minutes to go to wrap up a quality quarter.

With their first ASUN victory of the season in sight, the Royals maintained pressure, outscoring Kennesaw State 5-1 in the fourth quarter. During that period, five different Royals found the back of the net to clinch an impressive 17-7 victory over the Owls.
