JACKSONVILLE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team (5-9, 2-2) took on Jacksonville University (8-5, 4-0) this afternoon, falling 21-10 to the Dolphins in Atlantic Sun Conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dolphins got off to a hot start, netting three goals in a row before Queens'
Kayleen Favreau got the Royals on the board with a pair of goals to give the game a 3-2 score. Jacksonville closed the period, outscoring the Royals 3-1 to take a 6-3 lead into the second. Jacksonville would take control of the game, finding the back of the cage eight more times before the half as Queens scored just one goal in the quarter. The Dolphins led 14-4 at the break.
Queens held the Dolphins to one goal in the third while adding three more points to the board to close the margin to eight, 15-7. However, Jacksonville closed the game with a 6-3 run in the fourth to take today's ASUN win.
KEY STATS & NOTES
- Junior attacker Kayleen Favreau recorded a hat trick and one assist to reach her 200th career point this afternoon. She is the seventh Royal in program history to reach 200 points.
- Isabella Swanson finished with a pair of goals, having recorded at least two in the last three games for Queens.
- Elise Grissett and Amanda Williamson each finished with one goal and one assist.
- The Dolphins had four players record hat tricks. Additionally, Abby Moran totaled 20 draw controls.
- In goal, Brookelynn Hodgin recorded nine saves for Jacksonville.
- Queens totaled 19 shots on goal compared to Jacksonville's 29.
- Queens lost the battle for draw controls, 28-6, but totaled 19 ground balls to Jacksonville's 14.
