ST. CHARLES, MO. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball squad faced a hard-fought 3–1 loss to Lindenwood on Thursday night at Robert F. Hyland Arena. Despite a strong start, the Royals dropped the match by set scores of 30–32, 26–24, 23–25, and 21–25.
MATCH RECAP
Queens traded punches with the Lions throughout the night, opening the match with an electric first set that saw 13 ties and multiple lead changes. The Royals had a chance to steal the opening frame but couldn't convert down the stretch, as Lindenwood pulled out the 32–30 win behind late kills from Brendan Louthain and Ian Schuller.
The Royals bounced back in the second, playing some of their cleanest volleyball of the night. Fueled by efficient attacking from Carson Strawbridge, Chance Shampine, and Nathan Vaupel, Queens edged Lindenwood 26–24 to even the match. Reed Shuey chipped in with key blocks, and setter Wilson Buchanan distributed the offense finishing the match with 42 assists.
Lindenwood responded in the third with a 25–23 win, overcoming another close set filled with momentum swings. Queens continued to fight behind solid hitting and a sturdy back row led by Torin Stewart, but the Lions' offense — paced by Schuller's 15 kills and Louthain's 18 — was solid.
In the final frame, Lindenwood seized control midway through the set. Despite continued production from Shampine and Strawbridge, Queens couldn't mount a late push and dropped the set 25–21.
