Queens University of Charlotte head men's volleyball coach Roger Peluso is proud to announce the addition of Liran Zamir to the Royals' coaching staff as an assistant coach. Zamir joins the Royals after spending the 2025-26 season at George Mason University. In his first season working with the Patriots' setters, he helped Georgi Zahariev earn National Player of the Week honors while helping guide George Mason to an EIVA Tournament appearance.
During his time at George Mason, Zamir also coached the 17s travel team at Metro Volleyball Club, helping the team earn a triple Open qualifier for the first time in program history.
Prior to George Mason, Zamir served as the Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Alabama State University. In his role, he led the Hornets' defensive strategy while implementing schemes that had brought him success in previous coaching positions. As recruiting coordinator, Zamir made an immediate impact by securing top-tier talent, including AVCA Watch List and NTDP athletes. His efforts helped propel Alabama State to a postseason appearance in 2024 while mentoring student-athletes who earned First and Second Team All-SWAC honors.
Before joining Alabama State, Zamir spent five seasons as the men's volleyball head coach at Santa Monica College. Under his leadership, the 2024 squad finished second in the conference and advanced to the state quarterfinals. Zamir mentored Jason Walmer, who was named Player of the Year before transferring to UC Santa Barbara, along with additional First and Second Team All-WSC selections. The Corsairs also ranked among the state leaders in digs and blocks.
That same year, Zamir assisted head coach Nicky Sanlin with the USA Volleyball U21 Men's National Team Development Program winter session in Anaheim and coached the 16s team at MB Surf Volleyball Club.
In 2023, Zamir assisted the Men's Collegiate National Team through the USA Volleyball National Team Development Program under head coach Chris McGown. That same year, he received the AVCA Diversity Award in recognition of his efforts to foster an inclusive and diverse program at Santa Monica College. His leadership also helped guide the program to consecutive state playoff quarterfinal appearances.
In 2022, Zamir led Santa Monica College to a third-place conference finish and a No. 6 overall ranking while securing another state playoff berth. He developed two First Team and two Second Team All-WSC selections and was recognized with the AVCA Thirty Under 30 Award.
Throughout his tenure at Santa Monica College, Zamir's teams consistently ranked among the state's top defensive programs, excelling in total digs, digs per set, solo blocks, block assists and blocks per set. Off the court, he organized an "All-Time" alumni event that brought together Santa Monica College volleyball alumni dating back to the 1960s.
Numerous players coached by Zamir have gone on to compete at various levels of NCAA volleyball. As a player, Zamir competed professionally in the Israeli Premier League for Hapoel Jerusalem.
Outside of coaching, Zamir hosts the "International Coaches Club" podcast and is the author of "Don't Coach Like Me." He is also a certified personal trainer and holds a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in sport management from the University of Kansas.
