Royals Fall in Battle with Sharks

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team (2-5) lost to LIU (5-1) by a score of 13-9 this afternoon at Dickson Field.
  
HOW IT HAPPENED
Queens jumped on the Sharks early in the game, scoring three unanswered goals in the opening quarter. However, LIU responded with a pair of goals late in the period to give the game a 3-2 score when the horn sounded. The Sharks then outscored the Royals 4-2 in the second quarter to take a 6-5 lead into the half.
 
Queens tied the game up twice in the third quarter before the Sharks went on a 6-0 run that stretched into the final 15 minutes of action. The Royals' Deacon Adams and Hunter Meyer would score the final two goals for Queens to give the game its final score.
 
KEY STATS & NOTES 
  • Nine different Royals scored in today's game. Jack Royer notched a pair of assists and a goal to lead with three points.
  • Grant Isika was 12-25 at the face off. He also totaled four ground balls.
  • Nicky West recorded 11 saves in 30 minutes of action for Queens. Dylan Axman had five saves.
  • Cameron Connolly led the Sharks with three goals and one assist.
  • Brayden Wilcken earned today's win in goal for the Sharks after making 12 saves.
  • LIU totaled 39 shots to Queens' 37, placing 29 shots on goal. The Royals recorded 21 shots on goal.
  • Queens tallied 23 ground balls compared to LIU's 24 ground balls.
