Royals Host Temple for Senior Day Game

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team (2-5) hosted Temple University (2-5) this afternoon in the first game played between the two programs. The Royals fell 15-12 in the Senior Day game.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Queens came out strong this afternoon, netting the game's first goal at 13:28. They went on to take a 4-2 lead into the second quarter where Temple outscored the home team 6-2 to go into the halftime break on top 8-6.
 
The Royals controlled the third quarter of the game, finding the back of the net three times and tying the game up at 9-9.
 
Temple's Erin King struck first in the fourth to help her team regain control, but Kayleen Favreau answered to tie the game at 10-10. Another goal from Temple put them in front again before Favreau knotted the game once more with her sixth goal of the day.  The Owls then went on a 4-1 run to close the game and take the win.
 
KEY STATS & NOTES 
  • Kayleen Favreau led the Royals with a season-high six goals. She also totaled two assists, giving the junior attacker a season-high eight points on the day.
  • Jordan Tandler tallied two goals, while Elise Grissett contributed four assists, one goal, seven draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Lily Greenwell chipped in with a goal and an assist.
  • Defensively, Molly O'Donnell totaled six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
  • Devan Maready recorded seven saves in goal for Queens.
  • Erin King and Sabrina Martin led the Owls with four goals each. Kaitlyn Stankavage added three goals.
  • Temple's Colleen Berardino earned her first win of the season in goal after recording four saves in 26:42 minutes played.
  • Queens outshot the Owls 31-28 putting 20 shots on goal compared to Temple's 22 shots on frame.
  • The Royals won the battle for ground balls 19-17 and lost the battle at the draw 16-13.
  • For Senior Day, Alexi Flores, Jordan Tandler, Avery McMullin, Karsyn Sadler, Jill Gironda, Breelyn Geist, Giuliana Portolesi, and team manager Mitra Shiraz were recognized for their careers with the program.
