LEXINGTON, Va. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team (2-4) faced VMI (5-1) this afternoon in Lexington, falling 20-7 to the Keydets.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 11-4 at the half, Queens was held scoreless in the third quarter as the Keydets increased their lead to 12, 16-4.
Three goals from VMI in the fourth swelled the margin to 15, 19-4, before the Royals scored three goals in a row to pull within 12 with 3:21 left in regulation. Another goal from the Keydets with just over a minute to play gave the game its final score of 20-7.
KEY STATS & NOTES
- Brooks Stankavage and Ryan McDaniel scored a career-high two goals each.
- Grant Isika went 17-28 at the face off and recorded nine ground balls.
- Five Keydets recorded hat tricks.
- Damian Levin recorded 12 saves in goal for VMI.
- Queens was outshot 48-37 and lost the battle for ground balls narrowly, 26-24.
