Royals Shine After Day One of NICs

OCALA, FLA. — Queens University of Charlotte made a strong statement on the opening night of the 2025 CSCAA National Invitational Championship, securing multiple podium finishes.

"What an amazing first night for both our men and women," Director of Swimming Jeff Dugdale said. "Both the men and women had some wins and both have performed well in the relays."

The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team kicked off the night in dominant fashion, claiming the gold medal with a time of 1:17.41. The squad of Matej Dusa, Nien Levy, Daniel Meszaros, and Conner Wang outpaced Grand Canyon University to give Queens a crucial early victory.

Queens continued its success with Abigail Zboran, who delivered a standout performance in the women's 200 IM, winning the event in 1:59.18 to secure another gold for the Royals.

In the men's 50 free, Matej Dusa won first place with a blazing time of 19.46, edging out George Washington's Elliott Irwin.

The Royals also secured multiple second-place finishes throughout the night. The women's 200 free relay team of Ryley Heck, Maren Patterson, Sabina Kupcova, and Abigail Zboran clocked 1:30.59, finishing just behind Akron. Heck later returned to the podium, taking silver in the women's 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.49.

On the men's side, Conner Wang delivered a strong race in the 50 fly, securing second place with a time of 20.91. Noah Beladi added another silver for Queens, touching the wall in 24.48 in the 50 breast. Additionally, Matheus Przewalla finished in third in the 200 IM with a time of 1:47.60.

Queens wrapped up the night with two strong 400-yard medley relay performances. The women's team of Haley Ross, Annika Huber, Maddie Foster, and Ryley Heck took second place in 3:37.91, while the men's team of Andreas Marz, Noah Beladi, Conner Wang, and Matej Dusa secured third place in 3:10.40.
