LOUISVILLE, Ky.- Following the first day of competition at the Atlantic Sun Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Queens University of Charlotte women's team sits third overall while the men are holding on to the sixth-place spot.
The women have 41.5 points through seven events, and the men have 12 points through five events.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- Halle Perry was the first to secure a win for the Royals after coming out on top in the indoor pentathlon with a score of 3,530. She came in just ahead of her teammate Heloise Louiset who totaled 3,496 points. Their scores sit sixth and eighth all-time at Queens, respectively.
- Louiset also captured an individual championship in the high jump at the end of the night after clearing the bar 1.71 meters. Sara Sandric and Marissa Klamorick also collected points for Queens in the event after finishing in sixth and seventh place.
- Perry and Jada Brown took sixth and seventh place in the long jump, respectively, after both recorded jumps of 5.53 meters
- Alexander Mannel collected eight points for the men's squad after taking second place in the pole vault with a mark of 4.72 meters. He also finished just outside the top eight in the long jump with a mark of 6.57 meters.
- At the end of the night, the Queens men's DMR team, comprised of Jonathan Schmidt, Chandon Smith, David Fort Diaz, and Uriah Aili raced to a fifth-place finish in 10:27.56.
- Through four events, Robin Ott leads in the heptathlon with a score of 2,978. Mannel is third and Jaroslav Sivuha is eighth.
