CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Hannah Long has stepped down as the Queens University of Charlotte head women's volleyball coach, Queens Director of Athletics
Cherie Swarthout announced.
"I want to thank Hannah for her commitment and loyalty to Queens and our women's volleyball program," Swarthout stated. "She has been a fantastic coach for us who has helped our Royals rise to new heights since her arrival and we wish her the best moving forward."
Long recently completed her ninth season with the Royals, who posted their best record since Queens began its transition to Division I during the 2022-23 season. In addition to picking up their first road conference win during the 2024 season, the Royals earned their first ASUN Weekly Award. They also advanced to postseason play for the first time in program history, competing in the ASUN Conference Quarterfinals.
"I want to thank the athletes for all of their hard work over the years and for the tireless efforts of our assistant coaches," Long stated. "I look forward to watching the team progress to new heights in the future."
Prior to the Royals' transition to DI, Long led them to five straight South Atlantic Conference Tournaments. Additionally, she led Queens to three NCAA DII Championship appearances, taking the Royals to the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history during the 2016 season. That same year, the Royals recorded their best SAC regular-season record ever. In 2017, the Royals won their first SAC Regular-Season Championship.
Long recorded her 400
th career win in 2021 and notched her 100
th career win at Queens in 2021. She completes her career at Queens with a record of 126-123 while her career record sits at 488-216.
Assistant Coach
Savannah Moore will assume all coaching responsibilities for the spring semester.
The search for a new head coach is currently underway.
