CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team opened its 2025 season this afternoon at home against Mount St. Mary's falling 14-9 to the Mountaineers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind 2-0 early, the Royals put together three unanswered goals to take a 3-2 lead into the second quarter. However, the Mountaineers would outscore Queens 5-2 in the second quarter, giving the visitors a 7-5 lead at the half.
Out of the break, Queens took advantage of an extra-man opportunity in the third to score back-to-back goals and knot the game at 7-7 with 11:34 on the clock. Unfortunately, Mount St. Mary's answered with a pair of their own to take control of the game for good. They then went on to outscore Queens 5-2 in the fourth quarter to secure the season opening win.

- Queens had seven different players score in today's game.
- Grant Isika was 12-23 at the face off. He also totaled one goal and three ground balls.
- In goal, freshman Dylan Axman played all 60 minutes, totaling 11 saves.
- Brody Atkinson led the Mountaineers with six goals.
- Bennett Wright earned the win in goal for Mount St. Mary's after collecting 11 stops.
- Queens totaled 20 shots on goal compared the Mount St. Mary's 25 shots on goal.
- The Royals won the battle for ground balls, 22-20 and won 14 face offs to the Mountaineers' 12.

Queens is back in action on Friday, Feb. 7. They will welcome Holy Cross to Dickson Field for a game slated to begin at 4 p.m.
